Synergy Is The Key In Chefs’ Toys Acquisition Of SoCal Design Firm

Chefs’ Toys, the Fountain Valley, Calif., equipment and supplies dealer, has acquired the restaurant kitchen design firm, Michael Blackman & Associates.

MBA has been in operation for more than 30 years as a restaurant kitchen designer in Southern California and nationally. Its client lists ranges from Spago to Fuddruckers to Umami Burger. Its team of restaurant designers, kitchen consultants and project managers, formerly based in Santa Monica, is now in offices at Chefs’ Toys’ location in west Los Angeles.

“Chefs’ Toys has provided commercial kitchen design services for many years. Michael Blackman & Associates has developed an exceptional reputation in the industry,” says Chef Toys’ President Steve Dickler. “With their deep expertise in kitchen and bar design, restaurant interior design, tremendous knowledge and resources for restaurant fixtures, architecture, planning and construction, the MBA team will help take Chefs’ Toys to a whole new level.”

Chefs’ Toys has six superstores in Southern California, and a distribution center there. With its acquisition of MBA the dealer now offers full professional services including design, planning, consulting, and project management services for restaurants, bars, and commercial kitchens. Chefs’ Toys, ranked 24th in FER’s 2015 Top Dealers, reported sales of $57.5 million in 2014.
