Denmark’s Tefcold Acquires UK’s Interlevin

Interlevin, one of the United Kingdom’s largest commercial refrigeration equipment suppliers, has been acquired by its Danish product supplier Tefcold AS. The companies have worked together for nearly 30 years.

The acquisition by the newly formed Tefcold Group gives Tefcold direct access to the UK market. Interlevin will be run as a sister company to Tefcold AS.

Interlevin, founded in 1967, sells approximately 40,000 plug-in cooling units per year, as well as Fagor warewashers, hot buffet displays, and ice makers. Tefcold, established in 1987, develops, manufactures and distributes professional cooling equipment in more than 100 countries worldwide. It ships more than 100,000 units a year from its three warehouses in Europe and direct from factories. Owner Torben Christensen says the acquisition will help it increase its supplier base and logistical set-up in Europe to improve customer service.

The two businesses will continue as usual under the new common ownership. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but referred to as part of a “planned generational change process.”
