Kitchen United Debuts California Facility

Culinary on-demand startup Kitchen United has opened its first local kitchen hub.

The new 12,000-sq.ft. facility in Pasadena, Calif., will assist food businesses in expanding their delivery, takeout and catering operations. At its May 21 opening, the space housed 15 different regional and national concepts, including Canter's Deli, Fritzi Coop, Mama Musubi, Barney's Gourmet Burgers, and The Pizza Plant.

Kitchen United, which focuses on enabling restaurant concepts to adapt to consumer demand for delivery, is planning to expand nationally this year. It recently announced raising an undisclosed amount of funding from Cali Group, Avista Investments, and other private investors to accelerate growth and fuel expansion in key markets in the U.S.

“We quickly recognized that restaurants needed much more than access to a kitchen to make these specialized 'outposts' work,” says Jim Collins, CEO of Kitchen United. "So we have designed a unique solution, providing a combination of technology, equipment, marketing assistance and workflow solutions specifically optimized to ensure partner success.”
