Three months after it bought Tomlinson Industries, Crown Brands has acquired the Foodservice Dinnerware, Flatware and Crystal Glass operations of The Oneida Group. The deal, announced Jan. 24, is effective immediately.

The Oneida Group will continue to sell Anchor Hocking glassware to the foodservice industry and will increase sales support in this channel. The company, which is in the process of moving distribution from Savannah, Ga., back to Lancaster, Ohio, also plans to expand plant production capacity to better service and support growth.

“The brands and product categories associated with this acquisition align with our long-term strategic plan to offer the highest quality, most comprehensive product portfolio to satisfy operator needs in the front of the house, kitchen/food preparation areas and the back of the house from a single source,” says Crown Brands CEO Tony Battaglia.

“The Oneida foodservice portfolio gives us an iconic brand and a significant tabletop portfolio to augment our current front of the house offering,” added John Schroeder, EVP of Lincolnshire, Ill.-based Crown Brands. “This acquisition deepens our relevance within the industry and introduces the full Crown portfolio into areas that were not available to us prior.”

Crown Brands, formed in 2014 with the acquisitions of Focus Foodservice, Johnson-Rose Corp. and Update International, acquired Co-Rect Products in ‘15. It acquired the manufacturing and distribution operations of Cleveland-based Tomlinson Industries last October.

By combining Oneida with these brands, says Schroeder, “we are able to provide our partners with solutions across a wide spectrum of categories of product shipping from one location that makes us a truly unique partner in the industry.”
