Chick-fil-A to Install More Hand-Washing Stations

Chick-fil-A committed to add outdoor hand-washing stations at all its locations this month to help prevent the spread of coronavirus during drive-thru ordering.

Citing CDC guidance that washing hands with soap and water is the most effective way to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the company said it will have the hand-washing stations deployed to all drive-thru locations for employees who work or serve customers outside as well as mall or in-line curbside locations.

It also advised staff to wash their hands at least every 30 minutes as well as any time they handle cash. The company also provides Purell Wipes for additional hand-sanitization options.

Chick-fil-A is encouraging customers to swipe their own credit cards if they can and use mobile ordering through their app. The company also alerted customers that some Chick-fil-A staff may wear face masks while working. Additionally, it sent all vendors and delivery partners information about its updated procedures.

This comes as other national chains are coming up with solutions to help control the spread of the virus while still allowing takeout and delivery. McDonald’s announced it will deploy plexiglass barriers at front counters and drive-thru windows, and KFC is using tamper-evident seals on delivery packaging.
