The commercial cooking equipment provider Vulcan has hired Mike Conway to serve as business development manager and leading sales expert for fryers, griddles and charbroilers.

Before joining Vulcan, Conway worked as CEO for Tecnoeka where he was responsible for establishing the company’s U.S. business operations. Before that, he served as president of Unox North America, and his expertise working with corporate research and development in Italy “helped communicate market requirements, competitive intelligence and customer needs.”

A certified personal chef, Conway also previously served as director of operations for Hissho Sushi, and he ran his own catering company for 10 years, specializing in healthcare service.

“Having Mike on the Vulcan team gives us another great culinary expert and resource for our customers,” says Vulcan Vice President and General Manager Chris Stern in a press release. “Mike brings with him a vast knowledge of foodservice and a strong track record of industry expertise. We’ve already seen his enthusiasm, and we are excited to see how he will enable growth in these product categories.”

The appointment comes as Vulcan is in the process of establishing a Center of Excellence in Baltimore that will host training, end-user testing and other culinary experiences. Vulcan is building its support teams at the center to include culinary, technical and sales personnel and plans to upgrade its facility, engineering lab and test kitchen.
